Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (Fasilkom-TI) Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) successfully held the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) in 2023 on Friday - Sunday, August 18 - 20, 2023.

This activity is divided into two levels of activities, namely the University and Faculty levels. On the first day, activities began at the University level which was held at the USU Mini Stadium. It opened with registration and distribution of consumption, opening by the Master Ceremony (MC), singing Indonesia Raya and Mars USU, reading prayers, reports of the committee chairman of the PKKMB USU 2023, Doli Muhammad Jafar Dalimunthe SE., M.Si. remarks by the USU chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., and inspiring speech by Fiki Naki. The activity continued with student mobilization to Fasilkom-TI.

Activities at the Faculty level began with welcoming new students with the reporting of the Chairperson of the PKKMB Committee of Fasilkom-TI USU, remarks from the Student Governor of Fasilkom-TI, and remarks from the Dean of Fasilkom-TI, Dr. Maya Silvi Lydia, B.Sc, M.Sc. Furthermore, the socialization video of the Higher Education Student Achievement Center (PUSPRESMA) and Student Organization (ORMAWA) was played. The activity continued with lunch and spiritual activities.

The first day of material was delivered by Fasilkom-TI Lecturer, Pauzi Ibrahim Nainggolan, S.Komp., M.Sc., regarding the life of the nation, state, and fostering awareness of state defense. The presentation of the first material was based on Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, NKRI, and Unity in Diversity. Furthermore, the material was delivered by the Vice Dean I of Fasilkom-TI, Dr. Mohammad Andri Budiman, S.T., M.Comp.Sc., M.E.M., regarding the higher education system in Indonesia and learning at USU. The last material was delivered by Fasilkom-TI Lecturer, Jos Timanta Tarigan, S.Kom., M.Sc., regarding higher education in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 and campus life. In his presentation, he explained how the role of universities in facing the industrial revolution 4.0 and applying important elements for universities.

The second day of activities began with new student registration and morning gymnastics together. Followed by the presentation of material by the Vice Dean II of Fasilkom-TI, Sarah Purnamawati S.T., M.Sc., regarding environmental awareness and healthy campus. In her presentation, a healthy campus itself must achieve several important aspects or points such as anti-corruption, character building and building student mental health, and a healthy campus. Furthermore, the material was presented by a lecturer at Fasilkom-TI, Dewi Sartika Br Ginting, S.Kom., M.Kom., regarding the development of student character as intellectuals and violence (anti-bullying). The last material was delivered by the Head of the Computer Science Study Program, Dr. Amalia, S.T., M.T., regarding the core values of the digital era. The activity was interspersed with ice breaking, followed by an introduction to the laboratories in Fasilkom-TI and the Academic Information System (SIA).

The activity continued with lunch and a short break, then new students took a trip around the faculty and the introduction of study programs taken over by the Computer Science Student Association (IMILKOM) and the Information Technology Student Association (HIMATIF). The second day's activities were closed with fun games with the academic community of Fasilkom-TI and a creation event.

On the last day, a series of activities were returned at the University level starting with new student registration, funwalk, El Shaddai dance and choir performances and dance UKM, giving remarks by the USU Rector, Chairperson of the Central KPI, and Chairperson of Commission I DPRI, mosaic performances from each faculty, talk shows, lucky draws, launching the 71st USU Anniversary logo, closing PKKMB USU 2023, and entertainment.
