The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (Fasilkom-TI) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) held an Alumni and Corporate Gathering on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Harmoni ABC Ballroom 1st Floor, Sofyan Hotel, Central Jakarta. This activity carries the theme "Trust and Collaboration".
The purpose of this activity is to see how far the alumni have gone in their careers which is also a benchmark in realizing the targets of Fasilkom-TI. The event began with the opening by the Master Ceremony (MC), followed by singing the Indonesia Raya song and reading prayers. Then remarks by alumni representatives represented by Joi M Ginting, a 2002 Computer Science alumni.
The activity continued with remarks and material presentation by the Dean of Fasilkom-TI, Dr. Maya Silvi Lydia, B.Sc., M.Sc., in the material presentation explained about Fasilkom-TI such as vision and mission, number of facilities and number of study programs available at Fasilkom-TI, Fasilkom-TI leadership, achievements of Fasilkom-TI students, research conducted by lecturers and students, journal and conference publications, and cooperation carried out by Fasilkom-TI.
Furthermore, the presentation of material related to World Class University (WCU) by the Vice Dean III of Fasilkom-TI, Romi Fadillah Rahmat, B.Comp.Sc., M.Sc. In his explanation, it was said that USU has a long-term plan in the range of 2015-2039 to become a university that has academic excellence as a barometer of scientific progress that is able to compete at the global level. To achieve this plan, there are several parameters that must be implemented such as, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Times Higher Education (THE), Webometrics Ranking of World University, 4ICU Unirank, Scimago Institution Rank, and UI GreenMetric, ARWU, MOSIUR.
The activity continued with ice breaking and coffee break. Then, the presentation of the S-1 Computer Science and Information Technology curriculum by the Head of the Computer Science Study Program, Dr. Amalia, ST., M.T., and the Head of the Information Technology Study Program, Dedy Arisandi, ST., M.Kom. In the presentation of the curriculum of each study program, it was explained about the landscape of computing education (CC 2020), the differences from each curriculum used, the radar chart of study materials for the study program curriculum, and of course an explanation of the courses used in the curriculum. The discussion of the curriculum is the core of this activity so that it can be a reference for developing learning for students with the aim that students can be more mature in facing the world of work.
Then continued with a discussion with the theme "The Role of Alumni towards the Alma Mater (Fasilkom-TI USU)" which was moderated by Fasilkom-TI Lecturer, Pauzi Ibrahim Nainggolan, S.Komp., M.Sc. The activity was closed with entertainment events such as playing video testimonials of alumni, games, lucky draws for five people, and closing by the MC.
