Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is collecting data on prospective students for the 2026 Academic Year whose status in the National Socioeconomic Single Data (Data Tunggal Sosial dan Ekonomi Nasional/DTSEN) has changed. This initiative follows the Circular Letter of the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, No. 492/DST/F2/LP.01.01/2026, dated 15 June 2026, regarding the Proposal for Additional KIP Kuliah Quotas Following Changes in the Non-Eligible Status of SNPMB 2026 KIP Kuliah Applicants.
The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., explained that the data collection is intended for prospective students admitted through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) and the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) pathways for the 2026 admission cycle who meet specific eligibility criteria.
"This data collection is a follow-up to the government's policy regarding changes in DTSEN status. We encourage eligible prospective students to promptly confirm their information and submit the required documents according to the established schedule," she said.
Prospective USU students admitted through the 2026 SNBP or SNBT pathways may participate in this data collection if they meet the following criteria:
- They have been admitted to Universitas Sumatera Utara through the 2026 SNBP or SNBT admission pathway and have completed the new student registration process in accordance with university regulations.
- They have applied for the 2026 KIP Kuliah Program, possess an active KIP Kuliah account, and have completed all required documents through the KIP Kuliah portal.
- They are classified within DTSEN Deciles 1–4, and this status has been synchronized with their KIP Kuliah account.
Eligible prospective students are advised to promptly confirm their information and submit the required supporting documents by completing the following steps:
- Confirm their information online through the link provided by the university.
- Upload the following supporting documents:
2026 KIP Kuliah Participant Card
Proof of their DTSEN decile status as displayed in their KIP Kuliah system account - Submit all required documents no later than 25 June 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (WIB).
- All submissions must be completed online; physical (hard-copy) document submissions will not be accepted.
Prof. Poppy emphasized that the data collected through this process will serve as the basis for USU's proposal for additional 2026 KIP Kuliah recipient quotas to the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. However, the final decision regarding KIP Kuliah recipients remains entirely under the authority of the Ministry.
"We would like to emphasize that this data collection is part of the process of proposing additional KIP Kuliah recipient quotas. The final determination and approval of KIP Kuliah recipients remain the sole authority of the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology," she explained.
Through this initiative, Universitas Sumatera Utara continues to demonstrate its commitment to expanding inclusive and equitable access to higher education for prospective students from economically disadvantaged families while ensuring that the administration of the KIP Kuliah program is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.
