Medan, July 8, 2026 — The Tanoto Foundation has officially opened applications for the 2027 TELADAN Scholarship Program for first-semester undergraduate students at its partner universities, including Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). The program offers outstanding students the opportunity to receive educational funding while participating in a comprehensive leadership development program.

The TELADAN Program (Transforming Education to Nurture Future Leaders) is a leadership development initiative organized by the Tanoto Foundation to cultivate young leaders who demonstrate excellence, integrity, and a strong commitment to contributing to society and Indonesia's development. In addition to receiving full tuition support and monthly living allowances, scholarship recipients—known as Tanoto Scholars—will participate in a variety of continuous personal and leadership development activities.

Benefits of the TELADAN Scholarship Program

Selected participants will receive a range of benefits, including:

  • Full tuition coverage, paid directly to the partner university.
  • Monthly living allowance.
  • A structured leadership development curriculum covering Lead Self, Lead Others, Professional Preparation, and Alumni Engagement and Development.
  • Opportunities to participate in the Tanoto Scholars Association (TSA) and the Pay It Forward Initiative, which encourages community engagement and social impact.
  • Additional funding opportunities to support participation in competitions, conferences, and other self-development activities.
  • Internship opportunities with the Tanoto Foundation, the RGE Group, and other industry partners.
  • Opportunities to participate in international programs such as summer courses, student exchange programs, and other global learning experiences.
  • Membership in the Tanoto Scholars alumni network across Indonesia and internationally.

The TELADAN Scholarship Program is available to first-semester undergraduate students from the following ten partner universities:

  • Universitas Indonesia
  • Institut Teknologi Bandung
  • IPB University
  • Universitas Gadjah Mada
  • Universitas Diponegoro
  • Universitas Brawijaya
  • Universitas Hasanuddin
  • Universitas Riau
  • Universitas Mulawarman

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an Indonesian citizen.
  • Be a first-semester regular undergraduate (Bachelor's) student at one of the partner universities.
  • Not be enrolled simultaneously at another higher education institution.
  • Be willing to participate in all TELADAN Leadership Development Program activities.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to contributing to society.
  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Have a minimum Grade 12 average report card score of 8.00 (on a 10-point scale) and demonstrate non-academic achievements.
  • Not be receiving another scholarship (students receiving the KIP-K Scholarship are still eligible to apply).
  • Complete the application online through the official Tanoto Foundation website.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages:

  • Document screening and verification.
  • Leadership potential assessment.
  • Interview.

July 1 – September 7, 2026
