Medan, October 2025 — The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universitas Sumatera Utara (Fasilkom-TI USU), warmly welcomed six students and one accompanying lecturer from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Philippines, for the Inbound Student and Faculty Exchange Program held from October 5–18, 2025, at the Fasilkom-TI USU campus in Medan, Indonesia.
This program is part of the ongoing international collaboration between Fasilkom-TI USU and DMMMSU, based on a signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). It aims to strengthen institutional relations, enhance academic networks, and provide cross-cultural and academic experiences for the participants.
The delegation included six students—Jorge Jose Abenojar, Ivana Grace Daguison, Jhannedee Anne Fernandez, Eric Brandon Gurion, Santiago Elija Sabulao Jr., and Lein Rhowen Tremor—along with a supervising lecturer, Sheena Sapuay-Guillen. Throughout the two-week program, participants engaged in various academic and cultural activities such as language and cultural training, Robotics and 3D Printing workshops, sharing sessions with USU students, visits to Fasilkom-TI partners, and cultural excursions around North Sumatra.
According to Dr. Erna Budhiarti Nababan, M.IT, Chairperson of the Committee, the program serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and international collaboration in computer science and information technology. “We hope this program will pave the way for broader cooperation between Fasilkom-TI USU and DMMMSU, not only in student exchange but also in research and community engagement,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Maya Silvi Lydia, Dean of Fasilkom-TI USU, emphasized the faculty’s commitment to providing a meaningful and enriching academic experience for the DMMMSU participants. The program also aligns with USU’s vision of internationalization and supports the achievement of the university’s performance indicators, particularly those related to international collaboration.
The Inbound Student and Faculty Exchange Program marks another milestone in strengthening Fasilkom-TI USU’s international reputation and fostering sustainable academic partnerships in the future.
