MEDAN – The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (Fasilkom-TI) at the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has once again demonstrated its dominance in global technological innovation. The team "Gerakan Cinta NASA Medan" (NASA Medan Love Movement), composed entirely of Undergraduate Program in Computer Science students, successfully won two prestigious awards in the NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2025.
The team, consisting of six high-achieving students, was nominated as Global Nominees (under the Jakarta Chapter) and was honored with the Most Impactful Project award.
The innovative project that led to their victory is titled "Website for education and mitigation of asteroid collision with Earth." This project focused on developing a website-based solution that serves not only as a public education platform regarding the potential dangers of asteroid impacts but also provides steps for practical mitigation.
This success highlights that the dedication, creativity, and hard work of Fasilkom-TI USU students are competitive and recognized on the international stage, aligning with the faculty's vision for Collaboration for Innovation and Transformation Towards the Ultimate.
The winning team members are: Clara Angelin Pijoh (2023), Farhan Ar Rahman (2023), Nasywa Zavira Lubis (2024), M. Alif Akbar Harahap (2023), Annisa Putri Aprilla (2023), and Michael Purba (2023).
