Fasilkom-TI USU students Louis Claudio and Jesika Putri won bronze medals in Badminton and Volleyball at the IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2024 in Penang, Malaysia.

The academic community of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (Fasilkom-TI) at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is proud of the achievements of two of its students at the international 23rd Indonesia Malaysia Thailand - Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Varsity Carnival 2024. The event took place at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, from August 25-31, 2024, where the two Fasilkom-TI students secured bronze medals in Badminton and Volleyball.

The students who achieved this success are:

  1. Louis Claudio, an undergraduate student in Information Technology (class of 2023), who won the Bronze Medal in the Badminton Mixed Team event.
  2. Jesika Putri T. Marbun, an undergraduate student in Information Technology (class of 2020), who also won the Bronze Medal in Volleyball.

IMT-GT Varsity Carnival is an annual competition that brings together students from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand to compete in various events, including sports, cultural activities, and academic seminars. In addition to being a competition, the event aims to foster collaboration and friendship among students from the three Growth Triangle countries.

The participation of Louis Claudio and Jesika Putri T. Marbun in this international sports competition proves that Fasilkom-TI USU students excel not only academically and in the field of technology but also possess outstanding athletic talents. This achievement brings pride to the entire Fasilkom-TI community, as they have represented the university on an international stage.

The IMT-GT initiative is part of a regional cooperation program aimed at strengthening socio-economic ties in the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand growth triangle. In addition to sports competitions, the event also features academic seminars and cultural programs designed to expand knowledge and facilitate the exchange of ideas among students.

Congratulations to Louis Claudio and Jesika Putri T. Marbun for their accomplishments at the IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2024. May their success inspire other students to continue excelling, both academically and non-academically, and to bring further pride to Universitas Sumatera Utara.
