Fasilkom-TI USU and AIT Bangkok plan a double degree program in Data Science and AI, starting in 2025-2026, offering 50% tuition waivers and joint thesis supervision.

The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (Fasilkom-TI) of Universitas Sumatera Utara  (USU) through the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) Study Program conducted further exploration related to strategic cooperation with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Bangkok in the form of a Double Degree program on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Rectorate Bureau of Universitas Sumatera Utara  (USU).

The program is designed to improve the quality of education and research in the field of data science and artificial intelligence, as well as expand international academic networks. Talks regarding the opening of a double degree program between USU's Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) study program and AIT's Information Management show very promising prospects. The agreement includes a study structure where students will take 1 semester at USU and 3 semesters at AIT, with thesis completion under joint guidance from USU and AIT lecturers. Financial support is also very favorable, with AIT offering a 50% tuition fee waiver, and USU exploring support from LPDP for the remaining costs.

The plan to open the program in the odd semester of 2025-2026 gives ample time to prepare everything needed to ensure a smooth implementation. In addition, this discussion also includes the doctoral program, for which AIT is willing to provide a 50% exemption from tuition fees, demonstrating a strong commitment to this collaboration. This program not only provides opportunities for students to gain international experience and broaden their academic horizons, but also strengthens the institutional relationship between USU and AIT.
