Medan, Humas Fasilkom-TI — The Computer Science Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Sumatera Utara (Fasilkom-TI USU) held a public lecture entitled "Internet of Things (IoT): Implementation & Challenges" on Monday, December 16, 2021 through online platform (Zoom). This public lecture invited Octaf Agni Dhewa, S.Si, M.Cs., an Electrical Engineering lecturer from Yogyakarta State University.
Internet of Things is a concept or program where an object has the ability to transmit data over a network without using the help of computer and human. Internet of Things or often referred to as IoT is currently experiencing many developments. The development of IoT can be seen starting from the level of convergence of wireless technology, microelectromechanical (MEMS), internet, and QR (Quick Responses) Code. IoT is also often identified with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) as a communication method.
The public lecture was attended by students and lecturers of Fasilkom-TI. This lecture was opened by Dr. Amalia, ST., M.T. as Head of Computer Science Study Program. Then, guided by Hayatunnufus, S.Kom, M.Cs. as the moderator. The speaker delivered the materials which focused on the introduction of IoT, its implementation and the challenges that will be faced. After the delivery of the material, a question-and-answer session was held to answer questions related to the material.
By holding this public lecture, it is hoped that it can improve the competence of students, lecturers and researchers at USU, especially at Fasilkom-TI in understanding the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT).
